Your Privacy Matters to Us
- No advertising. We don't show ads or sell your data to advertisers.
- No tracking. We don't track you across other apps or websites.
- You're in control. Delete your account and all data anytime from within the app.
What This Policy Covers
Scripture Scholar is a Bible quiz app that helps you learn and test your knowledge of Scripture through interactive quizzes. This policy explains what information we collect, why we need it, and how we protect it.
Information We Collect
When You Create an Account
To save your progress and let you compete on leaderboards, we ask for:
- Email address — Used to create your account and send important updates (like password resets). We never share this publicly.
- Display name — The name that appears on leaderboards. You choose this—it doesn't have to be your real name.
- Profile picture (optional) — Only if you choose to add one or sign in with Google/Apple.
When You Sign In with Google or Apple
If you use "Sign in with Google" or "Sign in with Apple," we receive your email and profile picture from those services. We never receive or store your Google or Apple password.
When You Play Quizzes
To track your progress and show your achievements, we save:
- Your quiz scores and answers
- Your daily quiz streak (consecutive days played)
- Achievements you've unlocked
- Your high score and average performance
Device and App Information
We collect basic information to make the app work properly:
- Device type (iPhone, iPad) and operating system version
- App version you're using
- Your language and theme preferences
What We Don't Collect
- Your precise location
- Your contacts or address book
- Photos from your camera roll (unless you upload a profile picture)
- Payment or credit card information
- Health or fitness data
How We Use Your Information

Daily Quiz Reminders
You can choose to receive daily reminders to take your quiz. Here's how it works:
- Completely optional — You must turn on notifications in Settings. We never add you automatically.
- You pick the time — Choose what time works best for you.
- Easy to turn off — Go to Settings in the app anytime to disable reminders.
- Local notifications — Reminders are scheduled on your device; we don't need to "ping" our servers to send them.
Leaderboards
Scripture Scholar includes leaderboards so you can see how you rank against other players. When you appear on a leaderboard, other users can see:
- Your display name (not your email address)
- Your quiz score and average
- Your perfect score count
Privacy tip: You can use any display name you like. We don't require your real name.
How We Protect Your Data
Encryption
All data sent between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS—the same security used by banks and online shopping sites. This means no one can intercept or read your data while it's being transmitted.
Secure Storage
Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, a secure database service that:
- Encrypts all data at rest (meaning even stored data is scrambled)
- Restricts access so only you can see your own data
- Is maintained by Google with enterprise-grade security
Password Security
If you sign up with email, your password is never stored in readable form. We use a one-way process called "hashing" that makes it impossible for anyone—including us—to see your actual password.
Your Rights and Choices
Download Your Data
Export all your quiz history and profile data anytime from Settings.
Delete Your Account
Permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings.
Update Your Info
Change your display name, email, or profile picture anytime.
Control Notifications
Turn daily reminders on or off anytime in Settings.
Third-Party Services
Scripture Scholar uses a few trusted services to work properly:
Google Firebase
We use Firebase (by Google) for:
- Authentication — Securely managing sign-in with email, Google, or Apple
- Database — Storing your quiz progress and profile
- Cloud Storage — Storing profile pictures

Sign In with Apple / Google
When you use these sign-in options:
- We receive only your email and profile picture
- We never receive your password
- Apple lets you hide your email if you prefer ("Hide My Email" option)
- Your quiz data stays with us—it's never shared back to Apple or Google
Data Retention
Here's how long we keep your information:

When you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed from our systems. This action cannot be undone.
Children's Privacy
Scripture Scholar is designed for users of all ages who want to learn about the Bible. However:
- Account creation requires an email address
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent
- If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes:
- We'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- For significant changes, we'll notify you in the app
- Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy
